  • Question about Entry Visa

I am US citizen of Indian Origin. I have applied for entry visa and I would like to travel to India in October and December for 15 days. Do I need to register with local police in India during each of my travel?

Do you have your visa yet? If you do, you'll see that the entry (X) visa says on it that you are NOT required to register if your stay doesn't exceed 180 days. You also do not need to have a 2-month gap between each visit. That only applies to tourist (T) visa holders.

I haven't received my visa yet. Thanks for your reply.

Well, it will be stamped on your visa. 15 day trips are no problem at all.

          Entry Visa

          hi mantri,

I have one question, do you know how long does it take usually to get the entry visa, how long has it been that you have applied for it? And which consulate have you applied to?

I have applied to Houston for the same visa.

          Thanks,

My Indian Entry Visa has "X" mark with "M" for multiple entries. However, at the bottom it says
"Registration required within 14 days of arrival in India for visas valid for more than 180 days".

Question - does this mean I have to register for every visit to India 15 days or more?

Weird. Didn't they cross out that line and add a stamp stating registration is NOT required for trips under 180 days?

You can check. I don't think registration is too bad in India, though. It's just a hassle you shouldn't have to go through.

                      Entry Visa

Thanks everyone for your help. I got my passport back from Travisa yesterday with the Visa. I must say the entire process was quite smooth and full marks to Travisa for keeping me updated. It pretty much just a day for the consulate to approve the visa. The entire process from the day I sent the passport to the day I got it back was four working days.

                      I applied in Houston

Contact Travisa and ask why you're being required to register.
