Emplyoment Visa Expiry

Hi,

I am currently in India on an Employment Visa, which is due to expire on November 2nd.

I am in the process of applying for a visa extension, however still have not submitted my application. I now think that there would not be enough time to receive the extension before the visa expires.

Would you be able to advise the consequences, if any, of me being in the country with an expired visa?
