Indian Ctizenship for my US born child

Hi,
My child was born in US when i had to stay on L1. I have PIO card for the child and staying in India for at 3 yrs now.
I would like to avail the indian citzenship for my child. Can i obtain the same and what legal steps needs to be followed.

Kindly help with the possibilities to obtain indian citizenship for US born child.

I'm not sure if India allows you to apply for citizenship for a child, but if they do, you can do so. However, the child will remain a citizen of the US until it can renounce this on its own, so this status can either remain dormant (just de facto), or the Indian government might accept the impossibility of the child losing US citizenship at this time, but still allow it to obtain Indian citizenship. It's a tough hole to be stuck in, though. India ought to address this issue.
