PIO card with multiple passports of different nationalities?

Hi,
My son was issued with a PIO card when he was having a Malaysian passport.
Now he has obtained an Australian passport and uses it as his travel document and did not renew his Malaysian passport.

Can he link the Australian passport details to the existing PIO card or would he have to go through the process of reapplying a new PIO card?
Any advise would be appreciated.
