Re enter India after 6 month tourist visa, no more 2 month wait?

I'm hoping you can help me with a simple question that nobody at the consulates and visa administrations in Delhi seems to know the answer to. I'm visiting India on a 6 month tourist visa that is coming to an end, and wish to stay for another 6 months. Is it possible to travel to Kathmandu and get a new 6 month visa and return to India?

I saw in the news that the 2 month regulation to stay out of India had been dropped, but can not get anyone to confirm. If anyone could please let me know it would be extremely helpful to me and I'd be very grateful.

Go to FRRO ( foreign registration office ) website or go visit them in Delhi , they can tell you everything.

Looks like you might be right. Check the Kathmandu embassy page, and travisa outsourcing here in the us.
