Given name change for passport renewal after marriage

i got married 2 years back and since i have to renew my passport now i plan to change my maiden name to spouse last name.
I also want to drop my middle name in the renewal process. Will i have to provide paper adds for indian passport and a court order in US to go through the change in given name process?

Right now i have
Given Name : preeti mahesh
Last name : shah

Now after marriage i want the last name jain ( husbands last name)

Given name : preeti
Last name : Jain

What procedure will i have to go through in India and US? also will there be any issues later for GC processing- i am in I-140 stage.
Or is it just advisable to keep the current Given name?

even i am on same boat my name is too long i need to change "Revathikumari Krishna **** **" to "Revathi Wells".
let me know whether which process i should follow, is it maiden name chnage or complete name change or split name change.

please let me know what and all document you are providing..it helps..
