Spouse name in new passport

Hello,

My Indian passport is expiring in Dec 2013.
I have applied for passport renewal in SFO office. I got back my application saying that they need notarized copy of marriage certificate and spouse passport. My spouse is in India now. How do I proceed now? I mentioned in the application as married. Do I need to mention as single if spouse is not here? Please help me.

Can I notarize spouse passport in india and get the documents here and submit.

If you choose not to include spouse's name in the passport, you don't need them.
