  • Permanent Address in an Indian Passport

On the passport, always the current address is shown.
what is the significant and story behind the permanent address?

for eg. I lived in my village(granfather's house) of East-U.P. for two initial years after birth(born in another city of U.P) then we moved to Ghaziabad....from then then on we lived on rented place in Ghaziabad till 2002. From 2002 onwards we lived in our own owned house in Ghaziabad.
My father has the passport in which he has provided village address as permanent one and the Ghaziabad address as present one.

But, as I am practically living in Ghaziabad from starting(I am 21 now), I provided both present and permanent addresses as Ghaziabad. I hope everything goes smooth in getting Visa.
My mother and father, both have given village address as permanent one. When my father went to Honkong in 2002, he said for getting Visa its neccessary to provide the parental address as permanent one, so he aslo adviced me to put village address. But my parental address is in Ghazaiabad only(its grandparents who are in village), so I put the Ghaziabad address in both coloumns.

Sometimes, things at the government don't make any sense.

In your case, you would put Gaziabad address. There is no point in putting your grandparents' village address.
