OCI Renewal for Kids - help!

Hi,

I just learned that kids need OCI renewal if their US passports are renewed. My son is in the same boat - his US passport just got renewed and we don't have time to get his OCI renewed before we leave for India.

Can someone tell me if it is OK for a 15 year old to travel to India with his old passport with the U visa, the OCI card and his new passport? How strict are the immigration folks at the Indian airports about requiring kids to renew their OCI with their new US passports (adults don't need to do that). Anyone with experience in this matter, especially at the Delhi airport?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It is not OK. You need to get new OCI card. Otherwise you are at the risk of not being allowed to enter India.

I understand that I need to get the OCI renewed for minors with new passport. But I have read several posts indicating that they don't check for the U visa stamp on the new passport for children, as long as you are carrying the old US passport with the visa stamp, the OCI card, and the new US passport. The problem is that I don't have enough time to get the new OCI card/ U visa stamp for my child - given this, what are my options?
