Indian passport renewal in Washington DC via the BLS service

Hi,

I am having difficulty in getting my visa/I-20 photocopies notarized here in Virginia. Here the notaries are refusing to notarize the documents. Could you let me know if the India embassy would accept notarized copies from India (I already have them since my last visit to India).

Not possible to notarize photocopies in DC/VA

Hello. Yes, I've had the same experience. I even went to the court house and sheriff's office. They have told me that it is not possible to get government documents notarized. BLS must check the local facts before making blanket rules.

I ran into the same issue. All the notaries told me they would only notarize my signature. So, I wrote a statement and affirmed that the photocopies were true copies of original documents and found a notary who notarized my statement. Your local bank should have notaries. Hope this helps.
