  • OCI and property ownership

Hi. I am currently working in Singapore and wish to apply for a citizenship here. I want to apply for an OCI later. I know that OCI holders can own residential property in India. My question is the other way around: if I already own residential property in India can I still apply for OCI. I already own a house in India for which I am paying EMI, and I just want to know if I will be allowed to maintain ownership of that house if I were to renounce my Indian citizenship at this stage and apply for OCI. Will there be any ownership issues once I cancel my Indian passport.

    Thanks

Yes, you can continue to maintain the ownership of your house in India even after you cancel your Indian passport and get foreign passport and OCI.
