Renunciation Certificate

Hey,
Is the Renunciation Certificate required for getting a tourist visa. On the Renunciation page it mentions that 'Renunciation Certificate is not required for traveling to India', while on the visa page it mentions that a copy of Renunciation Certificate / Surrender Certificate is necessary to obtain a tourist visa. Seems contradictory! In the checklist for tourist visa also , there is no mention of Renunciation certificate is required. Any comments will be appreciated.

You do not need to take the certificate with you when you travel to India. You need it for visas/PIO/OCI. That's what it means.
