Need to renew passport but has invalid H1 visa

hello,

I am an Indian citizen who is on an expired H1 visa and an expired I-20. My passport expires on Oct 27th. I want to renew it but one of the required documents is a notarized copy of a valid visa. What can I do at this point?

Also, they say that I have to go there in person to renew my passport. I wonder if that is risky.

I was in school until last Dec. I was supposed to graduate in Dec but I did not. My I-20 expired in Feb.

What are your suggestions?

Do you think I can mail my passport to India to renew it?

Would it be wise to renew my passport?

I am stuck in the US because of the complications in getting my degree

From your post, it is not clear whether you are in legal status or not?

You said you have expired H1 visa? Is that the visa stamp? Or H1 legal status?
