OCI stamp transfer to new passport

I am 77 years old and got the OCI when I was 70. I just got issued a new US passport. Do I need to get the OCI stamp transferred to the new passport?

OCI Stamp to renewed passport

This question came up from a friend who had his US passport renewed recently who had obtained OCI at the age of 65. The BSL site is not very clear on this question. He called BLS and was told that he can travel with an Old passport with OCI stamp, his New passport and the OCI booklet. He does not have to transfer the OCI stamp to the New passport. You may want to contact BLS and confirm this. For convenience, it is better to transfer the OCI stamp to a New passport, but it takes about the same time process this as the new OCI issuance. You must get OCI stamp in new passport. You can't travel with old passport. There is no justifiable logic behind this but this is what Government of India wants.

In other words, if you are below 21 or above 50 years of age, every time you get a new passport, you need new OCI.

Procedure at /oci-card/oci-miscellaneous-sevices.html You will see the procedure is just like getting a new OCI all over again, except lower fees.

We don't understand the meaning of lifelong visa in that case. Basically, it is just like 10 years visa.

As mentioned, you are required to get your visa transferred, BUT, in practice, nobody seems to be hassled in India when entering with both the old and new passports.
