  • OCI Card- Passport Matchup question

I received an email from BLS indicating my OCI card is now processed and I should sent my US passport for matchup. There were instructions in the email on how to send the US passport for matchup.

But then I happened to see an order form on BLS international website for passport matchup that includes a fee of $4.70. The email from BLS made no mention of this order form in the email. So my question is a.) Should I include this order form when I send my US passport for matchup at the consulate. b). Should I send a prepaid envelope for the consulate to send me back the US passport or would they use the prepaid envelope in the original OCI application.

    Thanks

That $4.70 should have been paid when you applied first. How much did you pay? I paid consular fee = $25, ICWF = $3, BLS service fee = $4.70, for a total of 1 Money Order of $32.70.

I applied on 9/21/13 and received the new OCI and stamped passport in hand on 11/20/13. This was Houston BLS. I never received any e-mails from BLS, so had to stumble my way through by looking in different sections of the website. I hope in your e-mail instructions they have told you to send in a Confirmation Screen Print also. I found that by luck looking around in the website.

During passport matchup this is what I sent - (i) new/current/renewed US passport of applicant, plus (ii) Confirmation Screen Print, plus (iii) copy of pre-paid USPS return Express Mail label to BLS. The 3rd item was not required, but I sent in anyway, with a hand written note on the label that this was a copy, the original was sent with the application in September. I also pasted the original shipping label from September on the USPS envelope, with a hand written note on the label that this was “Passport Matchup for OCI Reissue.” Keeping a PDF of everything that went out helped in this case.

If you had sent a pre-paid envelope and mailing label addressed to you during your initial application, then you shouldn't have to send another one now; they did use the one I sent them originally to send the stuff back to me.

Thank you very much for your response...here is what I paid to BLS so far, For the OCI : $275 + $3 (ICWF) + $4.70 (BLS Service Fee) , For Renunciation : $175 + $4.70. I also send them prepaid traceable envelope.

I emailed BLS early last week regarding my confusion, They responded today (on a sunday...I am pretty surprised). They mentioned that I have to send a prepaid envelope for them to send my OCI card + US passport back. This was not mentioned in the original email they sent me. BLS also mentioned that if I did not send a prepaid envelope, I will have to pick up the OCI card + passport from their Office in NY.

So This is what I am gong to send them tommorow 1. U.S Passport...2.Copy of the email from BLS...3. Prepaid envelope to send OCI + Passport pack.
I will be using Address slip that came attached in the original notification email from BLS. I would also write "OCI SECTION, OCI MATCH-UP" on top of the envelope to BLS
