  • Immediate Help

    Hi All,

    Great posts. Thanks to all.

I have an immediate travel plan in DEC last week.

I am not sure if I need to apply Entry or PIO or Tourist VISA for my daughter.

Called up BLS helpline (NY embassy) and they said apply for TOURIST visa.

I want to know what would be the best way to go about this. Few posts say they got PIO in two weeks, so should I take a chance? Few posts said they applied for Entry VISA and few said for tourist visa.

    Other related information:

Me and my wife have expired US VISA.

My H1B application is pending and I have receipt.

My wife has an approved H1B.

Immediate help would be really helpful.

    Thanks.

You can take a chance and apply for PIO, I was in similar dilemma, and opted to go for Tourist visa versus OCI, finally ended up applying for VISA which was a bad experience in itself. Instead of 1-2 weeks it took 1 month door to door and that too after escalating my "stuck" application with Indian embassy officials. With BLS International there is no fixed rule. Best advice I can give is to apply in Person, I read in a few places that it just works faster.

      Finally got it done

Here is what I have done.

      1. Call the embassy and get the timeline.
      2. call the bls and get the timeline
      3. Fedex with priority overnight

Got the application processed within 2 weeks of time.

      Application accepted by BLS:09-12-2013 , 13:19
Appliication Processed on Date : 09-12-2013
Application Processed and Ready to be submitted to Consulate : 09-12-2013 , 17:52
      Application received at BLS Center : 18-12-2013 , 11:51
Application handed over to Applicant : -
      Application Dispatched to Applicant :18-12-2013 , 11:59

if you/your child is qualified for PIO go for it, its cheaper and good for longer time.

Thanks again for the replies and the help.
