Indian Passport renewal questions

I am on H1b I am trying to renew my passort here in US.

Address to be printed on the Passport: ? US or India? Same as old passport address is fine?
what is Air Bill no?

Need help regarding Passport Renewal

My passport going to expire next Jan 2015 so I planned to renewal in US through post. So my question is how safe to send my original passport in post since it is listed in document required for renewal? I am bit scare of any chance of missing.

Please advice.

Hey. I recently sent my passport and supporting documents by mail (received by BLS on 3/5/2014) and I had no issues. But I would recommend a couple of things:
- It's best to send the package by FedEx with tracking (I used UPS, but both are equally safe in my opinion), because that is the preferred route mentioned by BLS on their website. I'm not a fan of the regular USPS, so I'll suggest anyone to avoid it.
- You might consider putting your passport and all documents in a plastic cover if the envelope is not water-proof. Although I forgot to do this, my documents were delivered dry. But that may not always be the case.

I have a question here. I'm renewing my passport after 10years. I heard, to be on the safer side send the change of appearance affadict. In 10 years my appereance has not changed significantly, but there are few slight change due to age.(like bigger face, etc..).

In change of appearance affadict, I need clarification for few things. Thanks in advance.

1) Address to be filled - Which address do I need to fill US or India address.

2) Not sure which options to select from the given choices in the form.


1. that I have taken off my turban
2. that I have taken off my beard
3. that my appearance has changed
4. my present appearance is as under; and
5. photograph on the passport and photograph pasted below are of one and the same person.2”x2”

Hi reghaf,

I'm not sure if this will be of help, but I faced a similar situation. After I sent in all my documents to BLS, they called me a couple of weeks later saying that I need to send a change of appearance affidavit since I was a minor when my last passport was issued. If that is the same case with you, then this affidavit is mandatory. Either way, I think it is best to just send one to be on the safe side. But that is just my opinion.

As for your questions:
1) I had filled out my US address. This is the address which I was planning on having on my passport.
2) There is no check box next to those 5 options, so I did not "select" any of them. My application went through and I will be receiving my new passport today, so I guess it's not really necessary.
