Valid I94 but my L1B VISA gonna expire-PIO query Please help

I am on L1 Visa & my wife is on L2. My L1B expiring in next month(Jan 4 th), but I got I-94 valid till 2016 (same for me & my wife as well).
My Wife is 4 months pregnant. If i go for an extension i result will be known in the month of April probably. By the time my wife will be 8 months pregnant and she can't travel if at all my VISA gets rejected.
Can i Stay and work based on my I94 ? Does this effects my future green card ?
Will the valid I-94 suffice as 'valid visa status' for the purpose of applying for the kid's PIO ? Or is it likely to get rejected due to expired visa status?
Can i process Visitor VISA for my in-laws on my I94 as my wife is pregnant ?

When you say your L1 is expiring next month, do you mean the L1 status or the L1 visa stamp in your passport?

I-94

As long as u r in status not an issue. Even your visa page expired valid I-94 is fine. Need to show both parents are in status visa page not issue.
