entering for business on tourist visa

Hi all

I have to travel to India on business and required visa at very short notice. Luckily, I was able to get that, but the Indian embassy issued me tourist visa. Is it possible to enter India with tourist visa. My stay is for 2 days only. Coming all the way from North America for 2 days tour does not sound right. Would they refuse my entry if I tell them the truth. What is the best strategy you suggest so that I can go through. Thanks in advance
