Mistake in re-issued passport

Hi All,

Recently I applied for Passport reissue at Houston Consulate through mail.
In the reissued passport my Sex is mentioned as 'F' (Female) instead of 'M' (Male).
Can anyone let me know the process to correct the mistake in my reissued passport asap.

Also when the changes are done whether my passport number will be same or a new number will be issued?

To rectify the mistake whom should I reach BLS international or Consulate of India (Houston)?

Need help soon as my visa is gonna expire in couple of months n I need to upload the passport for same.

If I upload the passport with mistakes does the USCIS reject the application?
