Hi Friends,
I need your help to understand the implications of acquiring the citizenship.
I am planning to apply for application for registration of my Portuguese birth to Portugal. Presently staying in India. My question is,
1. If my birth is registered and I don't apply for a Portuguese passport and neither i want to acquire/apply for Portuguese BI card do I still have to give up my Indian Passport once birth registration is completed in portugal? Do i remain indian citizen or portuguese?
2. If the answer to above is i become portuguese citizen? Can you tell me procedure for surrendering passport or applying portuguese passport and OCI.
How many days/month/year do i have to surrender or do the above things just completing registration.
3. Will it be illegal to stay india once birth registeration is completed in portugal? What should one do if one need to do this in India like get visa /oci?
2. Can I still travel to India on my Indian passport after my birth is registered in Portugal ? Do I have to declare this ?
3. When I decide to apply for the Portuguese passport, hopefully at the end of 2014, then what do I have to do to surrender my Indian passport and how do I apply for the OCI ?
