oci reissue for minors

Has anyone with a minor recently visited Delhi in 2014 with the u visa stamp in the old passport for a minor? Were there any issues? I need to travel to India and just found out from
A friend that we have to get a new u visa every time a minors passport is renewed. I had no idea- I have been traveling with their old passport and never heard of this. The process is like applying for the OCI all over again and I don't have the time before traveling.
Any thoughts would be appreciated .

Yes, you need to get new OCI every time your kid gets a new passport. So much for 'lifelong validity'.

Someone was not asked for it does not mean you are safe.
