  • Time frame for SSN , US Passport , PIO Card

    Hi,
We are expecting a baby and my visa is to expire after 2 months from my due date.
Please advice me if this is sufficient time ? to get SSN,Passport, PIO card or INDIAN Visa for child whichever is fast.
Please help me to find the fastest ways to get all these done in short time.
Is it possible to apply for USA passport without SSN number as SSN Number will take long time to process.

    Please..please advice......

      Passport without SSN is possible

We are in somewhat similar situation. The information we got from US passport office is that it is possible to get US Passport for a newborn without getting SSN#. In the SSN# section of passport application you have to put all zeros. Other information we have is that there is expedited process to get US passport by paying additional fee wherein you get passport in 2-3 weeks. Indian visa can be obtained in 1 week. I think 2 months should be sufficient if you work smartly. When is the due date? You can send me a private message.

Time frame for SSN , US Passport , PIO Card

For my child, following was the order of execution and time taken,
        - SSN - 3 weeks
        - Passport - 2 weeks
        - PIO - 2 weeks

Wanted to state the obvious. Passport can be applied without SSN, but is not recommended as these details are tied together. PIO cannot be applied without a valid US passport.

        - SSN application was straight forward as the hospital took care of this for us with our approval.

        - Passport application was prepared by us. Requires some preparation work. If you have all the documents handy (except child's passport), you can start to prepare for it. Actual time for preparation was 2-3 days. Keep in mind, most USPS offices will require you to take an appointment for passport application.

        - PIO application. The most confusing and complex of the three. I would recommend taking sufficient time in preparing for this. BLS assists the consulate in providing this service. I don't want to scare you on this one, but preparing ahead will save you time and frustration.

Good Experience with BLS International SFO location

I had very good experience with BLS International India Visa SFO location for my Son PIO card processing. Before applying to them I was so worried that whether I will get my Son PIO on time as I need to travel to India within a month time frame and processing time given for SFO India consulate on BLS website was 45 days. Also I had gone through so many reviews on various portals and 70% reviews were negative about PIO processing. But my Son PIO card processed within 10 days after it reached to BLS International. I submitted application via FedEx with return shipping label. They are really fast if you are submitting all require documents as per requirements and instructions present on BLS International website. Thanks to BLS International and India consulate for fast processing.

If you want to go in person you do not select "postal" I believe you select "drop-off". You need the cashiers check number, and fedex return label number. I imagine you fill your daughter's information in the personal information section. Why not just fill out two order forms, one with your info and one with hers, take them both to the drop-off office and ask them which one to use.

You cannot take an appointment unless you complete and save a BLS order form. once you do that, then it will let you schedule an appointment.
