Process of getting citizenship, question on how long it takes to get entry visa?

I'm planning to go to India in summer.
In the process of getting citizenship. Just had my finger prints done and I know it is a close call. So was wondering whether if i apply for indian entry visa how long would it take to get it? Since applying for PIO or OCI does not make sense with the time i have in hand. will be applyinng in person in sfo

If all does not go as planned, i will just cancel the india trip.

The visa itself took 1 day for me. Getting the surrender certificate is another story. It might take a couple of weeks, but if you go in person with ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS, including a copy of your GC which they so love to ask for even when it isn't required, you might be able to convince them to get it to you soon. Take proof of impending travel and be ready to fork out more cash.

Good to know it is 1 day. But honestly I'm unable to wrap my mind in the amount of documents they are asking. BLS site seems so confusing to me. But I can't blame anyone. It is my fault that I applied for citizenship so late with my GC expiring in 6 months.
