Emergency Visa while OCI and Renunciation in process

I applied for OCI card and also the renunciation application at the same time in February 2014. While both are in process, there has been an emergency at home (India). Therefore, I need to go back urgently. I have looked at the BLS website about Emergency visas but have found nothing about OCI in process related situation. Does the Indian consulate give Emergency visa in this situation ? I am planning a visit to Indian Consulate in NY on Saturday, but still any information will be helpful.

Please let me know if anyone has gone through this situation. Thank you.
