  • Please help - BLS website woes

    Hi,

I'm applying for a Conference Visa to India. I am a student in the USA of Serbian nationality. I have all the papers I need except the BLS order form. I have two problems with it:

    1) The website does not allow me to apply for a Conference Visa. As soon as I select my nationality, or basically any other then US nationality under the 'Services' section, the only type of visa offered is a Tourist visa. I am not seeking a tourist visa and the requirements are different.

    2) I paid $15 for the FedEx delivery service but the email I received from BLS has a blank transaction number. Quote:

    "
    REFERENCE # : xxx xxxxxxx T
    AUTHOR. # : xxxxxx
    TRANS. REF. :

    Approved - Thank You 100
    "

Now, I can just count those $15 bucks as gone and do the send/return shipping thing myself. I have no time to pursue BLS for offering a service, taking my money and not delivering. But I do need to apply to the correct type of Visa.

Needless to say, BLS does not respond to emails or phone calls. The San Francisco branch, to be specific.

Experiences or suggestions on how to proceed?

    Djoksa,

I do not much information about the type of visa you are seeking. With the regards to the FedEx service, I called my credit card company and disputed the charges. I told them that I did not receive any acknowledgement and that BLS is not responding to emails or phone calls. My credit card company was able to refund the amount that was charged.

    Best,

      Best,
      Hi,

I got them on the phone after a few days of trying, finally waiting for 20 minutes before they picked up the phone. They told me to put any Visa service on the BLS Visa Order Form, in a dismissive stating-the-obvious sort of way. Terrible service. I hope that they see that the supplied documents and check are for a different visa type.

As for the $15 bucks, I frankly forgot to ask. I was startled when they picked up the phone. At this point I cannot honestly dispute the claim without calling them again, because well, they did pick up the phone once. And spending about an hour on the phone over a few days is not worth the $15 bucks.
