AP instead of EAD as a proof of status to renew indian passport for I-485 pending

Hello,

I would like to know if anyone had any knowledge about using an AP as a proof of legal status to renew Indian passport in the absence of EAD.

My wife and me decided not to renew her EAD as she was not working, but it seems that the BLS folks will only accept EAD and not even i-797C i-485 adjustment of status receipt notice, hence there is no valid current EAD they treat her as out of status applicant. I tried to explain the agent that expiring EAD will not lead to an out of immigration status.... but those BLS front desk agents act with an attitude as if they knew everything in this world.

Based on any of your experience, can someone let me know if a current recently issued valid AP is an acceptable proof of status document to accept one’s passport renewal application?

Whatever happened with your passport renewal? did the AP work? Sometimes being a citizen of that country is awful. The mentalities that one has to put up with are not to be believed.
