  • Entry or Tourist Visa Help

    Hello,
I am new to these forums and wondering if I could get some clarifications regarding our current issue. I am an Indian citizen.

-- Applied for my USC husband and son's entry visa for India on April 24th via postal with BLS Chicago (two separate packages)
--Got a call from Indian Consulate General Chicago telling me that they are denying my husband's entry visa application because of lack of Registered Marriage certificate, we had Arya Samaj Marriage 10 years ago and we had that certificate and we have applied for my husband's Entry visa 4 times with the same certificate and never had a problem. Well the lady said we will have to apply for tourist visa for him.
--Got back my son's passport with his entry visa on April 28th but nothing of my husband.
-- We had plans on leaving for India on May 16th but we still haven't received my husband's passport and I don't think we have enough time anymore to reapply for a tourist visa.

    Question
I have been trying to contact BLS Chicago since April 30th and have done the escalation ticket twice so far but nothing from them. There has been no status update. Is there anyway of contacting them?

We plan on changing the trip date for my husband and he will go to India at a later time and in the meantime if we don't receive the passport we will apply for a new passport and then apply for his tourist visa, but what I am concerned about is that with the Indian Visa form they ask for earlier denials and control number, if we never receive the current passport we won't have that control number.

Does anyone know how important that control number is? and Since I am still an Indian citizen, there shouldn't be any problem for my husband to get 10 year tourist visa, right?

Thanks for any help in this matter.

Were you able to get a tourist visa in time?

      Hey,
Sorry about the very late reply. But yes, on May 12th 2014 we received my husband's passport back and they had stamped tourist visa on it. I was never been able to get in touch with anyone over the phone but on May 8th they answered back my email saying that they are sending back the passport. I don't really know how it happened because technically we never applied for tourist visa. We were able to make the trip as a family on May 16th.

Again, sorry about the late reply.
