  • Recieved passport not in good condition

    Hi,

I applied for reissue of passport after 10 years and I recieved my new passport yesterday from BLS Washington DC, unfortunately the first page was not laminated properly and it is coming out. Will this create issue during immigration?. I was trying to contact the BLS customer care for long time but no luck. Can somebody help me on how to resolve such issue/ situation where passport was received not in good condition or mistake in the information.

    Thanks.

You are not alone. When I applied for renewal back in 2010, both of my front and back cover weren't laminated at all. The plastic cover was not at all stuck. I didn't gave much attention at the time. But when I went to India, the immigration officer said this is a damage passport. Upon arguing and showing them my status in US, I was allowed to moved on but they suggest me to get the passport fixed while in India. When I went to a Indian passport office, they asked me to reapply saying that they didn't issue the passport; it's a Houston office. I didn't have enough time to reapply for a new passport, so I decided to come back using the same passport. Again, the officer questioned me at the airport but he was good enough not to stretch it. I applied from my renunciation using the same passport, let's see what comes up ahead.
But you should try to get it fixed regardless. Let us know how it goes.
