OCI timeline CKGS New York ?

I Sent the OCI package to CKGS NYC on 05/23rd, CKGS website shows the status "Your application is in process" since the 06/06. Today 07/15, the GOI status inquiry website changed the status to PROCESSED (for Documents Printing Status), CKGS status is still the same "Your application is in process". my question is to get an idea on how long does it take Delhi to send the OCI booklet to CKGS or NYC Consulate. And is there anyway I can get the OCI earlier by directly going directly to NYC consulate ?, I am not sure if I can go to consulate directly. I have booked my tickets to India travelling on 07/23. any suggestions ? thanks.

I lost my OCI booklet and I am reapplying for it, I have U-visa stamp on my passport.

Once the Ministry in India processes it, it should take no more than a week at most to return to the embassy by courier (they send via a courier like DHL). Then its up to the consulate to inform CKGS that they have received it and that they should send in your passports. This is where the timing can vary. I would suggest that you contact the consulate directly and ask if they have received your OCI and if you can go to CKGS. If they say yes, go to CKGS and let them know of the travel urgency, and they should work to get the consulate the passport immediately. Once I knew the embassy had my OCI, it took CKGS 4 days to get my passport to them, get the sticker and return my passport. You will have to on top of them to get it done quickly.

And no, the consulate will not let you go there. I was in a similar situation and the embassy here said no way...but in your situation its worth trying. Do you have a visa as a backup since you are cutting it so close?

Thanks for your response. I am going to the New York CKGS office tomorrow to apply for the Visa. I am hoping to get either one of them by my travel time. Does anyone know if I can travel with my U-visa alone ? I will be flying from Philadelphia airport, I am thinking if they let me board the flight then I will be good to land in India clear the Indian immigration?. any thoughts here.

now the status shows Dispatched From MOIA today, 07/17/2014. any idea generally how long does it take to get to NYC CGI ?

As I mentioned before, this is sent via courier, so could be 3-4 days. Start bugging the consulate on Monday
