Did any one receive OCI with CKGS

My OCI application was processed by the Govt. of India and has been received by the NY Consulate. It has been 10 days now and the status on CKGS website still has not been updated.

Has anyone been successful in receiving their OCI card and original passport back from CKGS?

You have to be proactive with this last part of the process. If you pester them, they can get it from the embassy in one day. if you dont, they'll let it linger.

OCI Prepaid Envelope (s)

The OCI application keeps mentioning that I should include self-addressed prepaid envelopes. The self-addressed part I understand but how do I prepay for the envelope when I don't know how heavy the return package is going to end up being? How many stamps should I put on there? And what size envelope??

Also, I will be including the OCI application fee/CKGS fees in the form of a cashier's check which will include $15 for myself and $15 for my wife on the CKGS Order Form as well (Section "I-Application for return of documents by FedEx Courier service").

On top of that I have already paid $30 ($15 there and $15 for return) to FedEx as Courier fee through CKGS website.

So, I don't understand how many different ways they are asking me to pay the same return mailing fee! I sent an email to CKGS over 2 weeks ago but haven't received a response back yet.

Can someone who has already gone through the process provide any insight?

No need to include self addressed envelope when you have already paid the FedEx fee.

I applied for Adult OCI + Renunciation together via mail and my application was delivered to CKGS on July 23rd. I got a payment receipt e-mail with one Tracking ID, but since then nothing. I was under the impression that the Renunciation would be processed within a couple of weeks but no such luck. Any insight from people who have mailed in joint OCI/Renunciation applications would be appreciated.

My OCI application was approved by GOI on Aug 01. Till today, the status on CKGS website has not been updated. Funny thing is that the other day I received a phone call from CKGS saying my application was approved and I should send my original passport for match up.

Keep monitoring your application status on the GOI website. Once it says that your documents have been received by the consulate, you will have to send your original passport to CKGS for match up.

Notice regarding OCI cards match-up procedure
In the case of all OCI applications, the applicants are notified by email about the arrival of the printed OCI Registration Cards and "U" Visas from New Delhi and are requested to send their current passports for match-up. It has been noticed that many applicants have not been monitoring or receiving the email notifications at the email addresses mentioned in their applications and this has led to delays in their dispatch of passports for match-up.

Henceforth, all OCI applicants are requested to monitor the status of their OCI applications online at:

https://www.passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnqury

Passports for match up must be sent to CKGS only.

You get so frustrated by all the conflicting and complicated information on their website. What a bunch of s***heads!

On goi website status it says docs received from india to Houston on June 24. No update/email/phpne call since then. What should I do?

These are bunch of Indians running the the India related of business of CKGS. There is also a travel agency involved in this. I am sensing no appreciation for time here by these paper pushers. Obviously, it is the Indian Govt., who has created these unnecessary steps by which their friends and family get these fees on the expense of additional time/headaches added to services for the customers. And who knows some people at these consulates did (or will) recevie their cuts of these fees.

I can't believe you waited for so long! If you live near the embassy go over there and physically collect your oci. If not, contact the oci section of the embassy. You can also visit CKGS office and submit your passport for matchup.
