  • Queries regarding PIO card

Was recently issued a PIO card and have a couple of questions regarding the same.

    1. The CKGS web-site (http://www.in.ckgs.us/pio.shtml) has the following statement in red-font : "While traveling to India, passengers are requested to kindly carry your PIO card AND your US passport having "U" Visa."
However, my PIO card does not have an associated stamp in my US passport. Is the statement on the web-site incorrect, or do I now have to get a U visa stamped in my US passport?

    2. Inputs on this forum have indicated that the Indian "permanent address" provided in the PIO application would be included in the PIO card. However, my PIO card has no entry on my Indian address. Is this a matter of concern?

Would appreciate clarifications on these issues. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
For first Question: I was also in the process of getting the PIO paperwork ready and saw this message about "U" Visa. I emailed CKGS about this and they promptly replied back saying that for PIO card , "U" visa is NOT provided."U" visa is only provided for OCI card holder on their US passport. So this leads me to believe that what we are seeing in the Website for PIO is a typo. Maybe this text slipped from the nets of the QA folks :-)

Did you apply for renunciation + PIO? Can you provide timeline as to when you applied and how long it took for the entire process?
