Folks,
I have had a mixed experience with my OCI & Renunciation. While the GoI was surprisingly very fast, CKGS was painfully slow. Once my OCI was received at the NY Consulate, I had to constantly remind CKGS to do their job and they kept on asking for the same documents again and again. On top of that when they finally sent my passport back, their website status said "Your documents have been 'Collected' from the CKGS Centre" - that scared the heck out of me for those 3 days till I finally received my passport in my hand. CKGS's support is pathetic. Very frustrating!
Here is my timeline:
CKGS:
07/07/2014 - Application submitted to CKGS personally.
07/08/2014 - Your application has been received and will be submitted subject to verification.
07/08/2014 - Your application is in process. Your tracking id is USAN **** *
07/11/2014 - Your application has been submitted at The Indian Embassy for further processing.
09/02/2014 - Your application has been collected from the Embassy/Consulate and is being sorted. Your application will be ready for collection from our Application Centre within one business day.
09/08/2014 - Your documents have been 'Collected' from the CKGS Centre
08/19/2014 - Original US Passport Mailed for match-up (Overnight Fedex)
09/11/2014 - OCI Delivered (Overnight Fedex)

As you can see, GoI approved my OCI in less than a month and CKGS took almost a month just to complete the match-up process.
