PIO Processing time at CKGS Chicago?

Hi All,

Could you share how long it took you to get your passport & PIO back from CKGS Chicago? My husband's applying for a PIO and right now his status is at:

Your application has been submitted at the Indian Embassy for further processing 09/18/2014

What's the final message that would show up for picking up in person? We didn't pay for Fedex delivery and chose pick-up instead.

PIO Collection at CKGS Chicago

Does anyone have experience with PIO collection at CKGS Chicago or any other CKGS cities? Did you choose your day to collect or were you assigned a date? Pls share your experience, thanks!

Day 27: 10/07: Application has been collected from the Consulate and is being sorted. Will be ready for collection within one business day.

PIO Process till Completion - CKGS Chicago

Not counting the two extra days we took to collect, CKGS Chicago took 28 days to have husband's passport + PIO ready for pick up which is right in their stipulated processing time of four weeks, including their holidays between Oct. 2 - Oct. 6.

I'll answer my own question from the previous thread. If you choose to collect your passport/PIO, you can choose your own day to go. Unlike what someone else wrote about their collection experience, we had no queue waiting to collect their documents. We chose a Friday evening. There were maybe 10 people who had other appointments going on. We sat for a while just to be courteous to people already there and got our documents in 30 minutes. Had we not waited and had we asked for someone right away, we probably would have got our documents immediately. Maybe we just turned out to be lucky in choosing a day with less people coming in.
