OCI PIO Queries?

1. Have the PIO and OCI been merged ?

2. Does an OCI need an exit permit from the Police after staying
for a long period of time.like many years ?My Mother with an
PIO stayed in India for a long time(Years) and while leaving
needed an exit permit from the Police.

3. With the new changes will we still need a Police exit permit
if staying more than a few Years ?

4. I am holding a PIO do I need to apply for an OCI or will my
PIO be sufficient ? How is the merging done ?

Modi just announced it briefly in New York about it.

No details about merging have been published yet.

It may be a very long time before anything in that direction is implemented.

Will it take longer to get an OCI in India or is it best
if OCI is applied for abroad, the UK ?Already have
an PIO.

I hope the new schemes scrap the need to
get an exit permit from the police if the stay
is longer than 6 Months,for PIO holders.
Wonder if an OCI needs an exit permit ?
