Passport validity requirement for travel to India

My daughter is a US citizen. She is traveling to India in Nov 2014 end and coming back by end of Dec 2014. Her US passport is valid till Feb 2015. She has a PIO card which is valid till 2025. I wanted to know if she can travel to India with this US passport because it is still unexpired and she is coming back before her US passport expires?
