This is based on my experience for PIO with CKGS Houston. Thought might be useful for you guys.
- You can check the applications using sequential number (last 2 digits is year). This would give you an idea of number of applications before you. You will not be able to predict exact numbers because applications are not submitted to embassy in the same sequence they are received. there will be gaps due to inperson/postal submissions, also due to applications with missing docs/re-submissions. See samples at the end. Sub is the date on which CKGS submitted to embassy. Done is the date processed PIOs are collected from embassy.
- In person submissions might get forwarded to embassy same day. If you stay near an embassy, better to apply in person so you can save some time.
- If you are submitting in person: no notary required for ANY doc if both parents are present. Child need not be present.
- If you are sending the docs, make sure you notarize the parental authorization form as well (website does not say this)
Looks like CKGS collects the docs from embassy not on a daily basis, but may be once or twice a week (in my case, they collected 2 days after the issue date mentioned in PIO).
- For one particular guy, they processed it in 3 days. For another, they did in 5 days. Must be another way to get it done sooner! go figureout!!
- If you send all the right docs, expect the processing to be complete within 10 working days.
- If you plan on inperson submissions, do consider time it takes to get an appointment. if you are in a hurry, you can go directly in person without appointment and try your luck (wait is not much, you might get lucky if someone with an appointment didn't showup on time)
- Passport collection in person is a pain, takes too long (better go before 4pm so you would be first in line)
