Hello
My first post here and I did read many posts related to the subject of this post. Well, pardon my frustration tone here, I'm totally pissed off after spending a week in trying to get my visa application+renunciation documents ready using CKGS website and my head is spinning. I need to travel to India by Mid Dec for a business meeting and I recently became a US Citizen in August. So my understanding is as follows:
1. I can submit the Renunciation and Visa application together (business visa)
2. I need to submit only one Order CKGS Order Form. The fees works out to $240 for Visa + $3 + $17 + $175 (for Renunciation) + $15 for Return Courier Service = $450
3. I need to attach the Visa Application (completed and signed online Visa application) plus supporting documents. I've verified the Business Visa Checklist and prepared the required documents.
4. I have also completed the Renunciation Form and attached the supporting documents.
My questions are as follows:
1. Do I need to use two envelopes - keep visa document set+original US passport in one envelope and renunciation documents+original indian passport in another envelope? Do I need to attach the Order form on top of the two envelopes, put them all in a larger envelope and send it through courier to CKGS?
2. The fees includes $15 return courier service fee. When I tried the Value Added Service page and the courier option, it doesn't list the city that I live in CA. Should I just pay and print a pre-paid label at Fedex and include that as part of the package? How many such labels should I include?
3. When I tried to do an online payment, it shows an additional $13.05 as Agency Charges. Is it because I use credit card for online payment? I read the horror stories of online payment related issues and am not comfortable paying online. Can I take a cashier's check for $450 and include that as part of the documents?
4. Instead of couriering the entire document set, can I try to walking in to their SFO office early in the morning and check it out? I tried to fix an online appointment - but no appointments are available until end November.
Please help clarify. I never thought it was going to be this complex and difficult to complete this. Can't understand why they outsourced this to CKGS in first place and why this needs to be such a complex process. (The visa checklist says I need to attach two copies of the checklist as one of the checklist items! The disclaimer form has another checklist that is one of the attachments!!!).
Thank you
