  • travel with US passport(stamped with Indian visa); but donot have indian passport

My current passport (US) has indian visa stamp and I last traveled to India 2 years back.
My Indian passport is revoked and the cancelled passport is with my employer (because my employer doesnt allow holding non US passports for security reasons)
Will I face any procedural issues while entering India because I am not carrying the expired Indian passport

The employer cannot hold back the Indian passport, it is GOI property and should be duly submitted to the Indian consulate upon you acquiring US passport.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

what do you mean by "submit to indian consulate"
I already went thru the "renunciation" procedure, where they stamped "cancelled" on the passport and mailed me renunciation certificate.
Is there more to "submitting the passport to indian consulate"?

Your employer should have no right to hold your Indian Passport hostage (expired or not). Also, your travel to India should be possible with just your US passport and Indian visa (provided its still valid). Expired/Cancelled Indian passport is not asked for when going to India (AFAIK).

Thanks for quoting "expired/cancelled passport is not asked for"
I work for military and the nature of my job doesn't allow me holding (expired/unexpired) foreign passport, unless I want to work on unclassified-project

Most interesting. Didn't know that fact about the military. Everytime I have traveled to India with my US passport and OCI (my wife has a US passport with a visa), neither of us has ever been asked if we were Indian citizens before and to produce our old Indian passports.
