  • OCI is in SF Conulate, what should be my next step?

I live in san jose and can get to SF CKGS or Consulate directly.
I would rather drop off my passport directly in person.
    What are my options now?

CKGS site "track your application" is still showing "Sent to embassy" :-) ---> this is expected
passport enquiry - shows the passport is in SF consulate as of today

So when I go, Can I ask for them to hold it for me in person, so that I can collect it
Or give them the fedex prepaid envelope to send it back.

anyone recently got their OCI from SF consulate please respond.

We dropped off the passport in person, however CKGS mailed passport back using pre-paid envelope sent with the original application. There are folks who did not get an email from CKGS to send in passport and they just printed the status from GOI webpage along with original receipt etc and sent to CKGS. I actually did receive an email to send in PP so took that printout along with GOI webpage status showing OCI in consulate. All the best.

      Thank you sfbayguy

I'm planning to drop off my passport next week. I did send in a prepaid envelope with the original application
and I'm wonderning should I take one again when I go to drop it off.

Can you let me know if and when you for the mail from CKGS to send in the passport for matching. I'm going to india dec 15th and was wondering if it makes sense to wait or just go drop it off?

Submitted my passport in person - Yesterday - Update

It was honestly a good experience

        * Went to third floor and signed a sheet - I was person no 90 something
        * It was very crowded
        * I was waiting for 5 mins and thought I would ask someone there that I'm here for pasport match up
        * So freaking glad that I did ask, I was told to go downstairs and drop it off - Yay!
        * I went to the first floor office and dropped of my passport
        * I only had my passport and printout from passport enquiry that my oci card is in the consulate.
        * They signed my printout and gave it back to me and told me it will take 2 weeks.
        * Now I have started praying - hopefully will get the passport + oci card in 2 weeks in time for my dec 15th trip.

I think you should be OK, it took about about a week for us to get the passport back. Sorry I missed your earlier question, we did not give an new envelope with the passport. All the best.

Did you need an appointment just to drop off the passport? Also, assuming you went between 9am-11am, right?
