Urgent - Need help with Minor Visa application

  • Urgent - Need help with Minor Visa application

    I sent Visa applications for my 2 minor daughters to Huston center Via fedex last week and received a email from them that the applications are put in hold because they do not have my current passport copy.

    I'm a green card holder but Unfortunately My passport has expired and did not realize till the day I was sending out the visa application. I was not worried because I'm not traveling with the kids, My wife is going with them and she does have valid passport and green card.

    I could not understand why CKGS put the application on hold, i sent all other documents including copy of my green card, driver license, date of birth certificates of kids proof of US address and all other forms.

    I called the call center and after 11/2 hour wait talked to some guy who told me the same thing in the email after repeated requests from me to talk to his supervisor and explain that i'm not traveling with kids finally he came back and said OK send a signed letter in email explaining that I'm not traveling with kids and also send another copy of the Green card.

    So I did send that in email and it has been 2 days and nothing has happened, I have called 3 times sinse and they have verified the receipt of the email and letter attached but not sure what is goign to happen next.

    We already bought tickets to fly on 12/06/14 payed $1700 per ticket we have a family event that kids are planing to attend.

    I'm really worried, has any one faced simiar issue or are there any posts asking similar questions please help

    You should get your passport renewed as soon as possible (may be under Tatkaal scheme) and send the required copy.

      Sorry to hear about your case. I have had direct experience with the CKGS Houston office only once (this week, to be precise), so please don't take my word as authoritative.

      If you have talked with the person in the CKGS Houston, more likely you talked with the chief officer there. (Only one or two persons answered phones on their cells, and they were not desk people.) So given what you were told, I would think you are probably going to be fine. As for the long hold time, there is no dedicated person who just answers the phone. The two people I saw answering were the same ones who were running around form one desk to another helping the officers accepting applications and answering questions from the customers who had come in. So I am not surprised that it took a long time to talk to the officer there. Good luck.
