  • Adult PIO processing time in atlanta

    Hello,

I am planning to apply for renunciation and PIO in atlanta. The Atlanta indian counsel website indicates 7-10 business days. but the ckgs email indicated 4 weeks plus 15 business days for renunciation. Can someone shed their recent experience with atlanta. Most of the post indicates PIO for minors. Also, if i get visa instead do i need to pay for PIO again? Since PIO is now valid for life time does it make sense to apply for OCI at all?

Appreciate your responses. I am planning to visit in india in a month so i wonder whether it is wise to apply for PIO in person in atlanta office

After a 30 minute wait on the phone, i got these information.

    1. PIO+renunciation takes about 4- 5 business weeks
    2. Visa_reunciation takes about 30 days

    Looks like they are same???

      *Update*

Drove to Atlanta filed in person. I don't think it was worth the drive but here are few key things if you are applying PIO based on Naturalization

*Fees - $575 for PIO and Renunciation including 1 courier fee ($15).
*Only your information required. No need to enter or provide copies of following
      - Spouse details (passport etc)
      - Parents details
      - Birth certificate
      - Address proof in india

I took the first appointment in person. The location was not hard to find and there are plenty of hotels around that area. The metro station is close in 20 minutes walking distance.
The location has a waiting hall and the people who collect the documents were able to help you with the applications. Walk-ins always has issues as they are limited so try to take an appointment.
The information in appointment is irrelevant (passport number etc) as they check only the name. The parking lot has clear directions to CKGS office. Just follow the sign and you will reach right at the front door.

Over the phone I was told 5 weeks for PIO and 15 business days for renunciation. In person I was told 2-4 weeks. It took 15 minutes from in and out.
