I became naturalized USA citizen in 1994.
I am no longer in possesion Indian Passport (I think I surrendered it upon Naturalization...).
My 5 year Tourist Visa is expiring and I need to renew Tourist Visa.
There is now a "Proof of Renunciation" requirement for renewing Visa.
As per the CKGS Repreesentative, I need to show either
1. "Leaving School" Certificate. I assume they mean Indian school?
OR
2. Copy of birth certificate.
I never went to school in India, so I cannot provide #1.
I don't have copy of birth certificate, but will try to find it.
In the meantime, is there any other document that will meet this requirement? Perhaps notarized letter from relative living in India?
I do have my old USA Passport and current USA passport, both of which indicate that I was born in India. Is that sufficient?
I'm not sure what this requirement is trying to establish. How does a School Graduation Certificate prove that I have renounced Indian citizenship?
Are they just trying to establish that I was a former Indian citizen?
I still have my Indian Tourist Visa (expiring next month) attached to my expired USA passport. Does that help in any way?..
Will my application for Tourist visa definitely get rejected without this "Renunciation" proof?
Also, my Tourist Visa is expiring end of December. Could I travel to India before then and then extend my tourist visa while in India?
