Indian citizenship for Child born in US
We are in US and are expecting a baby and even though we are in US right now , we have no long term plans of living here and will go back to India in a year or so.
If baby is born in US probably because the mother can't fly back(medical reasons) to India for delivery what are the things we should take care of so that baby is considered ( or acquired) Indian citizen instead of American citizen ( natural birth).
Here are my queries :-
1. Register Child birth at Indian Consulate within 1 year.
[Question] : Is this same as having Indian Birth certificate ?
[Question] : Will this help to get Indian Citizenship ?
2. Provide undertaking that child does not hold any other citizenship
[Question] : Does this imply No other citizenship other than Indian ?
[Question] : Assuming #1 and #2 are taken care of will we be able to apply for Indian Passport while in US ?
[Question] : Is having Indian passport same as having Indian citizenship?
3. Don't apply for US passport.
[Question] : Is there a requirement that child need to have US passport to travel outside US , will having Indian passport suffice for (outbound) international travel ?
4. Travel back to US.
[Question] : Assuming if all above helps us to get Indian passport, will we have trouble travelling(inbound) back to US with baby (will Indian passport be deemed null and void ) ?

[Question] : Or it will suffice to have these, so as to be considered as Indian Citizen?
