Do I need to send original US passport for PIO application?

Mu understanding was that for PIO applications - you do not need to send your original US passports along with the application (only copies are ok). But then on the PIO document checklist here (point #8) - it says that the original passport needs to be included in the application: http://www.in.ckgs.us/resources/pdf/...d-us-adult.pdf. Which information is correct?

Can i send "notarized" copy of US passport - will that be ok? I cannot have my US passport away for that long - I travel internationally quite often.

You have to send the original US passport. No exceptions.
