Hi,
When we took US citizenship in 2005, renunciation process of Indian Passport was not available.
During OCI application from Indian Consulate in New York, no one ever told us we need to get a renunciation certificate.
Now we see in the web site that a $250 penalty fee may be applied, when I try to stamp for new US passport on my kids existing OCI card.
I think, this is unfair. How one supposed to know sudden change will add new penalty fee?
On googling I see the penalty was removed.
Is there a way, the penalty fee can be avoided?
Thanks,
