  • Renunciation confused about the category and fees

I still have Indian passport which would expire in 2017, I do not have any cancel stamp on my Indian passport, I acquired USA citizenship and US passport in Jan2014:

    CHOOSE your Renunciation Category:
    1) Renunciation Naturalized BEFORE 1st June, 2010 - only with Indian Passport
    2) Renunciation Naturalized ON OR AFTER 1st June, 2010 - only with Indian Passport
    3) Renunciation Naturalized 10 Years BACK - without Indian Passport

I want to apply for OCI card but for that I have to get this Renunciation
Which category do I belong?? The second one?? : Renunciation Naturalized ON OR AFTER 1st June, 2010 - only with Indian Passport??

I want to apply Renunciation for my Mom too,My mom has expired Indian passport and she became USA citizen in 2009, which category she belongs to? The First One??
Also I am confused how much total fees I am supposed to send for Renunciation certificate??
    Can some help!!

Based on my experience, you are in #2 (you've your Indian passport and are recently naturalized). Your mother is in #1 as she has her passport and was naturalized before 2010.

I think they are charging an hefty amount for those who recently naturalized.

    Hope this helps.

You fall into the second category. If you choose to pay online at the CKGS website, it will come up with the correct amount by default.
