Passport renewal SFO consulate : BLS/UPS lost package : What next

HI All,

We applied for passport renewal through BLS internation in SFO to India consulate in SFO. BLS international says they sent the new passport via UPS and UPS lost the package. Now we need a passport soon. Any advice and what we should do next ? Assuming we need to apply for this again.


1. Should I Apply under re-issue of passport or passport in-lieu for lost/damaged category?

2. If I have to apply under lost/damaged category. Under this category will I receive another new passport with 10 years expiry from now ? because my old passport just expired

3. On the application instructions. It says : If lost passport, please provide photocopy of old passport or if Not provide Marriage ceritificate notarized copy. Should I include old passport copies (luckily I have one copy ) ?

4. Another requirement on BLS website is letter if passport expiring less than 6 months. Do I need this based on old passport just expired ?

5. In Note on the bls website it says : "For all Lost Cases (Not the Damage) applicant has to get approval first from the Indian Consulate/Embassy." What does this mean : Do we need to go to SFO consulate and Will they give me some letter of approval and then we goto BLS to give the application?

Anyone been through this before ? Any guidance is appreciated

Blaming a lost passport on a respected courier is the easy way out. Have you been able to confront UPS with a tracking number from BLS to get the UPS version?

This reminds me of when my wife finds a package of candies or cheese opened in haste and left to get stale. Of course I always blamed our teenaged son (but I was the guilty party).

Same happened to me too...

Hi,

Same issue happened with my passport too.. UPS has tagged the package as lost. I have applied for a renewal of my passport.

Any suggestions on what needs to be done next? I have an L1 visa on my old passport and not sure how to proceed further.

I am also facing the same issue. Please help me if any body faced the same and got the duplicate passport under lost category
