Parent's Visa status for OCI Application

I am applying for OCI for 4 month old son and CKGS checklist and email support says Parents Visa must be valid for at least 3 months and Transfer notices and receipt notes are not accepted.

My wife and I were previously on L2/L1 for which our passports were stamped (which is expired now). Now we had our status change from this year to H4/H1 and we have approval notices for H1/H4 with us which also contains I94 extension section.

If we send the approval notice copy, will that work or we need to go to India to get Visa stamped and only after that we can apply for OCI? Please share if anyone else have applied for OCI recently and in same boat.

I797 having I94 is fine.. its an approved status document..
