anybody knows that a birth certificate required for oci application, can be translated by anyone, or needs somebody special.
I feel by writing the contents of guajrati birth certificate, against each field ,name ,dob etc. would suffice the need.

Are you applying for yourself or your child? If its for you, your Indian passport would be enough to show that you were indian citizen at some point...

application for oci was for my friends son k , who has school leaving in English already, mentioning his father's name, and correct date of birth, but no mothers name in the school leaving. When showed his gujrati birth certificate at
VFS counter, he was told to get it translated in English. What i feel, if he shows his mothers Cancelled (surrendered) Indian Passport and school leaving in English, the application should be allowed.
